At American Military University (AMU), we take great pride in being a Navy-friendly college. Through our transfer credit evaluation process, AMU evaluates and applies, at no cost to you, credit you’ve earned through Navy College Program for Afloat College Education (NCPACE) as well as your Joint Service Transcript (JST).* If you have military health sciences training, AMU 's online Associate of Applied Science in Health Sciences can be an ideal entry point to college study. Our classes are online with no set login times and start every month, so you can begin on your schedule.

AMU's Freedom Grant covers tuition above the military TA cap of $250 per credit hour for all undergraduate and master's-level programs. The grant is available to all U.S. active-duty servicemembers, National Guard members, Reservists, and their spouses/dependents.

AMU waives the technology fee for U.S. active-duty servicemembers, National Guard members, and Reservists enrolled in undergraduate programs.

*Zero-out-of-pocket tuition may be possible when the Freedom Grant is combined with other forms of financial assistance, such as military TA or federal Pell grants.

Military Tuition Assistance (TA)

Navy tuition assistance (TA) is offered to active-duty sailors and selected Reservists on active duty for 120 continuous days who have completed a minimum of three years of service (Cannot be waived). Additionally, TA is capped at eighteen (18) semester hours per fiscal year and you can be reimbursed up to 100% of the course cost, not to exceed $250 per semester hour. Sailors can only use TA to fund two courses each quarter of the fiscal year. Active-duty enlisted Sailors under 16 years of service and Reservists on active-duty orders must have 12 months or more remaining on their current enlistment or extension as of the course start date.

Navy students must submit an application through the Navy College Office's Virtual WebTA portal to use their military TA.
