About AMU's Online Master of Science in Finance (MSF) Program

This online master’s in finance examines how organizations raise capital and manage financial risk in global markets. Coursework covers the theories and methods analysts use to interpret financial data. Students review how financial professionals and investors assess corporate structure and valuation to make informed decisions.

Courses allow students to examine practical applications of analytical frameworks to investment strategies. Class discussions and written assignments are designed to address portfolio risk management and the hedging techniques that help reduce exposure in international bond markets.

AMU’s curriculum also addresses the preparation and interpretation of financial statements. Students consider how decision-makers use financial information to evaluate income and cash flows. The program explores financial institutions, as well, and delves into the broader system in which banks and other financial intermediaries function.

Concentration coursework further examines the finance field. Students examine specialized topics in subject areas such as debt instruments and the stages involved in mergers and acquisitions (M&A).

To conclude the program, students complete a capstone course where they will demonstrate their financial analysis skills.

About the Concentration

The General Concentration will give students a deep understanding of financial systems and practices including capital investments, risk, derivatives, investments, and insurance. Those who select the M.S. general concentration will find themselves prepared for a management role in corporate finance. The MS General concentration will also prepare the student for international finance and working with foreign currencies. It will also cover alternative currencies such as Bitcoin. This concentration will focus on how corporations utilize the financial markets for funding projects, capital improvements, and acquisitions.

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of financial systems and practices, including capital investments, foreign and alternative currencies, risk management, derivatives, and insurance, preparing them for management roles in corporate finance.
